Dr. Danial Schecter

 

Dr. Schecter is a Canadian expert in clinical aspects of cannabinoid medicine. He is the co-founder of the Cannabinoid Medical Clinic - Canada's first and largest clinic network dedicated to assessing patient suitability for cannabinoid medicine. Dr. Schecter is involved in numerous research and educational initiatives, and maintains a busy practice following thousands of patients using cannabis based medicines. He has lectured nationally and internationally and is a frequent visitor to Australia in his capacity as Chief Medical Advisor to Auscann.

 



Professor Don Smith

 

Professor Don Smith FAChSHM, FRCP, is a Senior Staff Specialist at the Albion Centre, the largest ambulatory HIV clinic in Australia. The Centre treats over 3,000 HIV infected patients and provides sexual health screening to a predominantly MSM inner city population. Don graduated in medicine from Otago University in 1984 and obtained his MD in 1993. He has been clinically managing HIV infected patients for over 30 years, has been a principal investigator or co-investigator in over 30 clinical trials and an author on more than 100 papers relating to HIV management. Don holds a conjoint appointment with the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, UNSW.

 


A/Prof James Ward


Associate Professor James Ward is a Pitjantjatjara/Narungga man, and a national leader in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research. He is currently the Head of Infectious Diseases Research Program, Aboriginal Health, at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.  For over two decades he has been working passionately to make a difference in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health outcomes through; programs, research, community led interventions and advocacy particularly in the areas of sexual health, HIV and alcohol and other drugs.  


Dr. Fiona Bisshop


Dr Fiona Bisshop is a GP at Holdsworth House Brisbane with many years experience in managing HIV and sexual health in high caseload practices. She is an RACGP Fellow, and also has an Honours degree in Microbiology from the University of Queensland. Fiona has a special interest in transgender medicine and is experienced in the complexities of hormone management for this group of patients. She was one of the creators of a weekend workshop in transgender health which has run in Brisbane for the last 2 years, and speaks regularly on this topic. She is an investigator for the QPrEPD demonstration project, and a member of the ASHM treatment guidelines committee.



Paul Kidd

 

Paul Kidd is an activist, writer and commentator with a particular interest in LGBTI law reform and legal issues affecting people living with blood-borne viruses. He was the founding chair of the Victorian HIV Legal Working Group, is a past President of Living Positive Victoria, has served on the boards of the Victorian AIDS Council, Hepatitis Victoria and the Equality Project, and is a member of the Victorian Government LGBTI Justice Working Group. He holds an honours degree in law from La Trobe Law School and is currently a trainee lawyer with Fitzroy Legal Service.

 


 

Prof Andrew Grulich

 

Professor Andrew Grulich, MBBS PhD, FAFPHM, trained in Medicine in Adelaide, and in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He joined the Kirby Institute at UNSW in 1995 and completed his PhD in HIV-associated cancer in 1998. He has led the Kirby Institute’s HIV Epidemiology and Prevention Program since 2002. He is Past President of the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine, and past board member of the International AIDS Society, and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science. Grulich leads research on the prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted infections in gay men, and was PI of the Opposites Attract study, one of the cornerstones of the U=U campaign.

Dr Frederick Lee

 

Dr Frederick Lee is based at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. As a Clinical Immunologist, he focusses on the management of complex HIV cases, and as a Pathologist, supervises the operation of the HIV diagnostic laboratory. Dr Lee is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Previously, he was an NHMRC Scholar conducting research in the area of efficacy and adverse effects of antiretroviral therapy at the St Vincent’s Hospital, also in Sydney.


 

 

 

Mary Belfrage
Mary has been a medical practitioner for nearly thirty years. She has worked as a primary care clinician (GP) in general community health and in Aboriginal community settings in both desert Aboriginal communities and for a long period, until recently, as the Medical Director at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service. She has been involved in research and held roles as policy and clinical advisor in wide-ranging areas including primary care, population health, efficacy of service models, and safety and quality of health care. Mary has long-standing interests in: health equity; what it takes to support safe, high quality care; and what it takes for people to really experience effective health care.

 



Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith is a Registered Nurse, currently working at Sydney Sexual Health Centre and is a Peer Group Facilitator at The Gender Centre in Annandale. Rachel has been volunteering in the trans community since 2013. Her group focuses on providing a safe space, giving support, information and opportunity for peer networking for trans women and gender questioning people at all stages of transition.




Vincent Cornelisse

Vincent is a sexual health physician based in Melbourne (Prahran Market Clinic and Melbourne Sexual Health Centre). He is also completing his PhD in sexual health epidemiology, focussing on the prevention of HIV and gonorrhoea. He is an investigator on VicPrEP and PrEPX.

Robert Page

Dr Rob Page is a high case load HIV prescriber. He works in General Practice in Darlinghurst, NSW, and has a special interest in sexual health and addiction medicine. He splits his clinical work between East Sydney Doctors and Kirketon Road Centre, and also works with organisations such as ASHM and NUAA to provide sexual health and drug education to GPs and peers.
