Shann is a scholarship holder and PhD candidate at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, UNSW. Shann’s thesis examines the diversion of pharmaceutical drugs for non-medical use in Australia, with a focus on better understanding how drugs are reaching the black market for misuse.

Stephen Ling is a Nurse Practitioner in Drug and Alcohol and a Credentialed Drug and Alcohol Nurse. He has worked for the Consultation Liaison Drug and Alcohol Service at John Hunter Hospital for the last 22 years, thirteen of those as an endorsed Nurse Practitioner. He was the first endorsed Nurse Practitioner in Drug and Alcohol in Australia. Stephen holds a Conjoint Teaching position with the University of Newcastle, Faculty of Health and Medicine. He leads a nurse-led opioid agonist clinic at the Newcastle Pharmacotherapy Service as an accredited opioid agonist treatment prescriber one half day each week.
