Biography

Julie has been the Nursing Unit Manager at the Uniting MSIC since Jan 2008, and has worked in the AOD field for over two decades. Her role includes reviewing the management of all overdose events on site as well as providing education on overdose management, safer injecting practices and Fentanyl.

Biography

Alison joined DAMEC in 2013 and has a background in social science. In her role Alison responds to AOD-related needs identified by CALD communities through community education and development projects across NSW, as well as through DAMEC’s Transitions program, which supports the reintegration of Vietnamese and Arabic-speaking ex-offenders. She also supports mainstream services through workforce development projects to enhance these organisations’ capacity to assist CALD communities. Prior to joining DAMEC Alison worked in the mental health and vocational support sectors.

Biography

Courtney is based at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre and is the coordinator of the Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS) for New South Wales. Previously, Courtney worked on the Pain and Opioids IN Treatment (POINT) study, examining patterns of opioid use and long-term health outcomes among individuals living with chronic non-cancer pain. She graduated in 2015 from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours).

Rebekah started her PhD candidature at The University of Queensland in January 2016. Her research is supported by the Centre for Youth Substance Abuse Research, under the supervision of Associate Professor Adrian Kelly and Dr. Gary Chan. Her research is focused on understanding adolescent substance use, eating disorders and mental health.

Biography

Professor Bonevski’s primary research focus as a Cancer Institute NSW Research Fellow is in the field of reducing the burden of disease, and health inequity, related to tobacco smoking and other health risk behaviours. Prof Bonevski completed a PhD from the University of Newcastle, in the Discipline of Behavioural Science in Relation to Medicine in 1997 after gaining a Psychology Honours (1st Class with WH Ward Prize for Best Applied Thesis).
