Kelsee is a Research Officer and Registered Nurse at the NSW FASD Diagnostic Service, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. With a PhD in neonatal physiology, she supports multidisciplinary FASD assessments, rural outreach, and research focused on service innovation for young people and adolescents with FASD.

Associate Professor Leigh Haysom has worked and advocated for young people in the criminal justice system for two decades. With most young people in custody being Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, her approach to everything is through a culturally sensitive lens. Leigh’s background is in paediatrics, adolescent medicine and public health and she collaborates with young people and colleagues on research focused on sexual health, virtual oral care, FASD, Australian models of care for youth in custody and the ear research she is presenting today.

She is the Marie Bashir Clinical Research Fellow at the Department of Adolescent Medicine, Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney exploring longitudinal mental health outcomes in gender and sexuality diverse adolescents.

Professor Susan M Sawyer AM MBBS MD FRACP FAAHMS holds the chair of Adolescent Health at The University of Melbourne and is director of the Centre for Adolescent Health, a WHO collaborating centre for adolescent health at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
