Biography

Professor Benjamin Cowie is an infectious diseases physician and epidemiologist, with appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Doherty Institute. He is a Professorial Fellow in the Department of Infectious Diseases, the University of Melbourne. In 2015, Ben was named the inaugural Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis at the Doherty Institute.

Biography

Dr Alisa Pedrana is a principal research fellow and public health practitioner at the Burnet Institute. Her work combines BBV/STIs epidemiology and surveillance, program evaluation and implementation science to design evidence-based interventions and improve health service delivery for key populations. She currently leads the Eliminate Hepatitis C Australia Partnership, a national collaboration of >75 stakeholders that is partnering to eliminate hepatitis C as a public health threat by 2030.

Lucy Clynes is the CEO of Hepatitis Australia - the peak community organisation to progress national action on issues of importance to people affected by hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Lucy has extensive peak body governance experience and a track record of building strategic partnerships to achieve policy and funding outcomes. She was previously a practicing lawyer and held key policy positions in both state and federal government, including serving as Deputy Chief of Staff to a government minister

Biography

Dr. Su Wang is a dual citizen. She is living with hepatitis B and also an internist who cares for people with hepatitis B. She is Medical Director for the Center for Asian Health and directs the Viral Hepatitis Programs at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and is associate professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She also serves as Senior Advisor for Global Health for the Hepatitis B Foundation and was president of the World Hepatitis Alliance, a patient led NGO dedicated to harnessing the power of people living with hepatitis to achieve its elimination.

A/Prof Thomas Tu is a molecular biologist at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. He also lives with chronic Hepatitis B. He established the online support forum HepBCommunity.org and Hepatitis B Voices Australia, Australia’s first advocacy group led by the HBV-affected community.
