This session will explore how real-world programs are transforming hepatitis care in correctional settings - and what’s needed to build on this momentum. With a focus on hepatitis C point-of-care testing (POCT), hepatitis B screening, immunisation and treatment strategies, and innovative prison-to-community transition support, this session highlights the pivotal role of the prison system in achieving elimination goals. Presenters will share current initiatives from across Australia, followed by a panel discussion on future directions and priorities for change.

Dr Marianne Martinello is a Senior Research Fellow at the Kirby Institute, an Infectious Diseases Staff Specialist at Prince of Wales Hospital Sydney, and an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow. As a clinician-researcher, her work focuses on optimising the diagnosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases, particularly blood-borne viruses, among key populations.
