Background: Clinician and STI/HIV & AIDS Specialist
Area of Study:
1. Bachelor Degrees in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS Degrees) in the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG)
2. Masters in STI and HIV Medicine (MMed STI/HIV) in the University of Sydney.
Work Experience:
1. Clinical Practice in General Medicine as well as and STI and HIV Medicine for 10 years in Nonga General Hospital a Regional Referral Hospital in the New Guinea Islands Region of PNG.
2. Specialist Medical Officer (SMO) in National STI/HIV program for 5 years in the National Department of Health.
3. Current Role: The Manager of STI/HIV & AIDS Program in the National Department of Health for a year and half. He coordinates the National HIV response for the National Department of Health in PNG.

Born 19th September 1975 at the Port Moresby General Hospital in the National Capital District, Papua New Guinea. I come from Tubiri village in the Imbongu District of Mendi, Southern Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea. I am the eldest of five, married with 3 kids. I work as STI/HIV & AIDS Data Registration Clerk with Southern Highlands Provincial Heath Authority at Mendi General Hospital since 02nd February 2009 to Current for 11 years now. I Assist Rural Program staff in updating site rural visits eg; HIV Data Case Management providing pre- ART and ongoing adherence counselling positive prevention and clinical assistance to PLHIV attending ART clinic.

Janet Gare is a Senior Research Fellow at the Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research. She is a sexual health research scientist with over 15 years of work experience. With her expertise in HIV drug resistance, she recently led and completed the country's first national HIV drug resistance survey.

I have been involved in the management of the Syphilis Out Break in North Queensland since the start in late 2010. My main interest lies in developing Sexual Health and HIV services in Low Resource environments such as the remote parts of Australia, Papua New Guinea and other Pacific Island countries.
