Biography

Associate Professor Deborah Williamson is a Clinical and Public Health Microbiologist, Deputy Director of the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory at the Doherty Institute. Her research group at the Doherty Institute focuses on the application of genomic technologies to public health, with a strong focus on antimicrobial-resistant sexually-transmitted pathogens.

Biography

Cameron is a PhD student currently investigating Neisseria gonorrhoeae genomics at the UQ Centre for Clinical Research. Cameron also works in the Microbial Diagnostics and Characterisation Group which focuses on developing tools for rapidly identifying key characteristics, including antimicrobial resistance determinants for several pathogens associated with sexually transmitted infections.

Biography

David is Director of the Western Sydney Sexual Health Centre and Professor at the University of Sydney. David provided technical input into the WHO’s recent STI treatment guideline revisions, and is assisting the Global Antibiotic Research & Development Partnership and GlaxoSmithKline with their efforts to bring new antimicrobial agents for gonorrhoea into clinical practice.
