This session will focus on the opportunities that social media provides as a tool for research, community outreach and health promotion, as well as how it has altered the sexual networks and norms in key affected population groups including gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, heterosexual youth, and indigenous peoples. The session will bring together a range of speakers from tertiary institutions to NGOs and grass-roots organisations.
This session will enable participants to explore the emerging role of social media in the sexual health field to: * Improve understanding of its role in sexual networks, particularly among key affected populations. * Provide examples of contemporary use of social media for health promotion and outreach. * Increase awareness of the use of social media as a tool in sexual health research.
