Details

Australia is driving the implementation of HIV prevention programs with the potential to ‘virtually eliminate’ HIV in the next few years. But who are the groups who are the least likely to be successfully brought into this agenda? What are the social, cultural and political challenges in engaging these more marginalised populations with an end to HIV? And are there opportunities and lessons learned which can help to support more effective approaches? This session will focus on the learning objectives of: • Increased understanding of the social, cultural and political complexities associated with achieving a virtual elimination of HIV • Improved awareness of the distinctive and shared characteristics, needs and priorities of minority populations at risk of HIV in Australia
