Biography

I am a post doctoral scientist working in the field of HIV Biology at the Kirby Institute. I completed by PhD in 2011 on HSV-1 entry into primary neurons at University of Sydney. My main research interests lie in studying host virus interactions in context of manipulation cellular actin networks.

Born in Venezuela, completed biotechnology studies (B.Sc) at the "TUM" (Munich, Germany) and a M.Sc in molecular medicine at the "Charité" (Berlin, Germany). Started PhD at UNSW (Kirby) on August 2015. Experienced tutor in chemistry and biology. First aid Officer since June 2016.

Biography

Katherine Ognenovska is a first year PhD student. She received her Bachelor degree with Honours in 2015 at UNSW Sydney. She went on to work in Phase 2/3 HIV clinical trials before pursuing a Doctorate at The Kirby Institute. Her research focuses on the RITS machinery in HIV-1.

Biography

Dr. Wei Zhao obtained his PhD in biochemistry from the National University of Singapore in 2016. He recently joined the HIV-HBV co-infection group at the Doherty Institute as research fellow under the mentorship of Professor Sharon Lewin. He also works with A/P Peter Revill at VIDRL.

Biography

Hannah has completed her undergraduate, BAdvSci, at UNSW and is currently an Honours student at The Kirby Institute, UNSW. Her research interests include sexual health, blood-borne viruses and the expression of the HIV-1 co-receptor, CCR5, on CD4+ T memory cell subsets, which forms the basis of her honours project.
