Donation to OzHarvest

In 2025, APSAD and OzHarvest are teaming up to support Australians in need.

About OzHarvest

OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation on a mission to ‘Nourish our Country’ by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. OzHarvest’s yellow vans are out and about in communities every day, collecting quality surplus food from a network of donors, including supermarkets, cafes, delis, restaurants, corporate kitchens, airlines, hotels, and other food businesses. We deliver this food directly to charities that help feed people in need across the nation, free of charge.
Through our education programs and advocacy work, OzHarvest hopes to create positive change and inspire others to help reach the national target of halving food waste by 2030.
Of course, every meal delivered also means that good food is diverted from landfill. Food going into landfill is a huge contributor to dangerous greenhouse gas emissions, with 10% of all emissions impacting climate change coming from food waste.
We believe that education is crucial if we want to enable positive change. Our education goal is to strengthen community connections, improve life skills, increase healthy eating and food waste awareness. We have a range of programs including FEAST, NEST and NOURISH to inspire primary and high school kids, ‘at risk’ youth and families in need.

The current need

At a time when the rising cost of living has seen the need for food relief significantly increase, your support is more valuable than ever.

The Foodbank Australia Hunger Report was released earlier this year, it is the benchmark report in Australia for poverty. It surveys households across Australia and the key findings are below:

  • On any given day, more than half a million households are struggling to put food on the table, those with children hit the hardest.
  • 2 million households have run out of food in the last year due to limited finances, sometimes skipping a meal or going whole days without eating
  • The rising cost of living is the most common reason (64%) that people are struggling to put food on the table, with increased cost of food, energy and housing contributing the most.
  • More than half (54%) of food insecure households have someone in paid work.
  • On a typical day, 306,000 households are receiving assistance from food relief organisations

Additionally, OzHarvest surveyed our recipient charities earlier in the year, with key insights being:

  • 30% of the people seeking support are doing so for the first time
  • 61% of charities reported an increase in demand during the last 6 months

Your support

Every single $1 raised will enable the delivery of 2 meals to those in need. How powerful is that!

Donations of $2 and more are tax deductible.
