Details
Delivered by the Young and Resilient Research Centre, this masterclass is suitable for professionals
wanting to engage young people as collaborators in health researchers. Attendees are taken through the fundamentals of co-research, case studies, information and guidance, and tools and resources which are part of a Youth Co-research Toolkit supported by the Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies and the Youth Engagement in Health Research Guidebook by the Wellbeing Health & Youth Centre of Research Excellence in Adolescent Health. Attendees will receive resources, take part in
interactive exercises, discussions and a Q&A.
Learning Objectives:
• An increased understanding of the fundamental concepts of youth engagement and coresearch, and how to implement these.
• Knowledge of practical strategies and the youth engagement skills needed to prepare for, implement, and manage challenges in co-research in health.
• Access to co-research resources and tools. Namely, the Guidebook: Youth Engagement in Health Research, the Youth Co-Research Toolkit for Young People and the Youth Co-research Toolkit for Researchers

Prof. Philippa Collin is a Professor at the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University and co-director of the Young and Resilient Research Centre. Philippa researches the social, cultural and political dimensions of children and young people’s digital media practices and role in identity, health, wellbeing and citizenship.

Rose is the Young and Resilient Research Centre’s Communication and Impact Assistant. From the age of 19 Rose has been involved as a youth co-researcher on university-level research projects including projects centred on young people’s well-being and children’s rights online. From 2020 – 2023 she was a Wellbeing Health and Youth Commissioner and contributed to the distribution of the WH&Y Engagement in Health Research Guidebook. She is currently studying for a Master of Public Health.
