Biography

Rick is a Senior Staff Specialist and Sexual Health Physician, Acting Director at the Sydney Sexual Health Centre, the largest publicly funded sexual health service in NSW. He is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the Kirby Institute, Sexual Health program and a member of the Australasian ASHM HIV guidelines committee and has an interest in early initiation of ART, Molecular epidemiology of HIV, workforce development in HIV care and HBV in CALD populations.

Biography

Dr. Jack Wallace is a social researcher focusing on the social, economic, health access and policy aspects of hepatitis B. He is a Senior Research Officer at the Burnet Institute and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Centre for Social Research in Health at UNSW. He has extensive experience in the community, government, and research sectors and was instrumental in founding Hepatitis Australia in 1998. His work is informed by his own experience of living with hepatitis C, he seeks to understand how the health system can better respond to the needs of people with viral hepatitis, particularly people with hepatitis B born in, and/or living in the Asia Pacific region.

Carol El-Hayek is an epidemiologist with over a decade's experience managing BBV/STI surveillance systems and evaluating public health programs. Carol's PhD research explored the use of machine learning for enhanced surveillance methods.

Jess is a Registered Nurse and has over ten years of experience including general practice, aged care and school nursing. Jess has excellent knowledge of mental health, chronic disease management, immunisations and wound care and active interest in population health and Hepatitis. Jess is sensitive to her patients needs and cares for them in a non-judgemental, friendly and supportive manner.

Ali has worked on several projects including facilitating the Hip Hop program in the WA government prisons, working on the Hepatitis B CaLD community project, Coordinator of the NSP/Volunteer programs and now working as Clinic Care Coordinator/Phlebotomist for HepatitisWA’s Deen Clinic.

He has many years of experience working in the HIV, Sexual Health and Hepatitis sector.
