Biography

Kiya (hello in Noongar Language). My name is Jessica de Tenon and I am a proud Aboriginal woman from the Gnaala Karla Booja region (Noongar language & dialectical groups from south-west of WA). I am the sexual health nurse working at Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation in Nhulunbuy, NT also referred to as the Gove Peninsula located in the north-eastern corner of Arnhem Land. I have been working with Miwatj Health for 5 years and have a background in cardiac, child health, women’s health, sexual and reproductive health. I am about to commence my masters of Women’s Health Medicine through The University of New South Wales.

Biography

Deanne grew up in Broome and has cultural connections from across Kimberley. Deanne has worked in Beagle Bay Health Clinic since 2020, recently becoming an accredited Aboriginal Health Practitioner in 2023. Deanne’s mum has worked with KAMS for many years in remote health, so she grew up in remote clinics across the Kimberley. She’s always had an interest in clinical health and wanted to be a health worker like her mum. Deanne is passionate about improving the health and future of the young people and young girls, helping them understanding the importance of taking care of the themselves.
