Overview
Join early- and mid-career colleagues working across disciplines/communities involved in infectious diseases POC testing. Like speed-dating, this event will briefly introduce attendees to a range of speakers to discuss various POC-related topics in a small group format. Bite-sized information in an informal setting with lots of opportunity to ask questions and connect with others working in the POC space.

Bianca is works in the Positive Results Hotline within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Respiratory Infection Point of Care Testing Program at the Kirby Institute. She has a background in Public Health and is passionate about health equity.

Corey Markus is a senior medical scientist, beginning his career in paediatric biochemistry and has recently moved into point-of-care testing for viral hepatitis at the Flinders University International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing. His other areas of interest include, laboratory harmonization and performance verification with membership on international committees.

Deane has a background in molecular infectious diseases and serology with experience working in both private and public pathology laboratories. As a member of the RCPAQAP team for over 15 years, her role has been to develop and manage external quality assurance programs for the molecular detection of infectious diseases.

Dr Janet Gare is Head of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit and Laboratory Coordinator of Disease Outbreak Surveillance at Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research. She is co-lead investigator on the DFAT-funded ACTUP-PNG HIV program and other research projects, and a long-term collaborator of Kirby Institute UNSW.

Mim O’Flynn is a registered nurse with a long history of working with patients living with HIV and Hepatitis. She is currently focusing her time on HCV PoCT fingerstick screening and linking marginalised and incarcerated patients to Hepatitis C care with Kombi Clinic.

Mitchell Starr works as the HIV PoCT coordinator to deliver the testing training and framework package for NSW Health and leads a research team at the NSW State Reference Laboratory for HIV into innovative testing technologies to engage vulnerable and marginalised populations into testing care pathways.
