Dr. Kimberly Page is an infectious disease epidemiologist with experience in prospective cohort studies, clinical trials and implementation science. She is a Professor and Chief of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, in the Department of Internal Medicine at UNM HSC.

Biography

Dr Julie Bruneau is Professor in the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at Université de Montréal. She is currently Head of the Primary Care Department at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). She is recognized as a leader in addiction medicine in Canada. Her research contributed to a better understanding of factors impeding and facilitating harm reduction efforts among persons who inject drugs, including the role of prescription opioid injection on Hepatitis C transmission.

Sumathi Ramachandran has her PhD in Molecular Biology from Indian Institute of Science. She served as Research Faculty in the Emory School of Medicine. She has been with CDC for the last 13 years, and currently serves as Senior Biologist in Division of Viral Hepatitis. She has several career achievement awards, acts as Member of selection committees, Reviewer of scientific journals and mentored students and fellows. She has an exemplary publication record of more than 50 papers in reputed journals.

Biography

Emmanuel Fortier is a MD/PhD student at the Université de Montréal. His research activities are conducted at the CHUM Research Centre (Montréal, Canada). He is supervised by Dr. Julie Bruneau (CHUM Research Centre) and co-supervised by Dr. Jason Grebely (Kirby Institute, Australia). His work revolves around the epidemiology of hepatitis C (HCV) infection and people who inject drugs (PWID), and could have important public health implications for the development of targeted prevention efforts in this population.

Paula Tookey is a Case Manager with Toronto Community Hep C Program where she co-facilitates two weekly treatment support groups and runs the community support worker training program for current/former clients. Paula has over twenty-five years of front line experience in community settings working with people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and/or who use drugs/alcohol. Paula is passionate about harm reduction, community and program development, peer education and mentorship, and end of life issues.

Biography

Dr. Martinez is the medical director of Hepatology at the University at Buffalo. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Boston University's affiliate in Providence Rhode Island. This was followed by a fellowship in Addiction Medicine and management of viral hepatitis at Weill Cornell Medical College where he later served on the faculty. He was affiliated with the University of California prior to his recruitment to the University at Buffalo to assume the directorship of Hepatology.
