Abstract

Biography

Jack Stone is a PhD student in the School of Social and Community Medicine at the University of Bristol. His research focuses on the use of mathematical modelling to help understand the transmission of hepatitis C virus and HIV transmission amongst people who inject drugs and the impact of prevention measures. His primary interests include the role of incarceration in hepatitis C virus and HIV transmission amongst people who inject drugs and the potential impact of prison-based interventions.

Biography

Professor Andrew Lloyd is an infectious diseases physician and immunology researcher at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He leads a research group studying epidemiological, clinical and basic science aspects of hepatitis C infection. He was awarded an Australia Medal for his clinical and research work in infectious diseases.

Biography

Miranda Sedillo is the Hepatitis and Corrections Program Manager. She has been instrumental in the development of new projects including: Prisoner Health is Community Health: The New Mexico Peer Education Project, the Project ECHO Georgia HCV Elimination Project, the New Mexico HCV Elimination Project and the New Mexico HCV Corrections teleECHO clinic. She was a founding member of the New Mexico Hepatitis C Coalition and currently sits as co-chair. She has a master’s degree in Health Education.

Dr Desmond Crowley is a GP and addiction specialist overseeing treatment in 3 opioid substitution clinics in North Inner City in Dublin, he is also the medical officer in charge of the drug treatment programme in MountJoy Prison in Dublin, he has been working in the as a doctor in the Irish Prison Service for more than 20 years.

Jan Tait is Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gastroenterology at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. She has provided a nurse-led hepatitis service for the last 15 years and her team carries out clinics within hospitals, drug problem services, prison services and GP practices. She completed a BSc in Nursing at Queen Margaret’s University, Edinburgh and a MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice at Dundee University.
