The Cost-Effectiveness Of Interventions To Improve Case Finding And Engagement With Hcv Treatment For People Who Inject Drugs In The UK

1:00 PM - 1:15 PM

Abstract

Biography

Dr Zoe Ward is a mathematical biologist, based at the University of Bristol, interested in infectious disease dynamics, epidemiology and health economics. I am currently working on models of hepatitis C virus in populations of people who inject drugs and the impact and cost-effectiveness of harm reduction policies and treatment.
Dr Brendan Jacka
Research Associate
The Kirby Institute, Unsw Sydney

Hepatitis C Virus Phylogenetic Clustering And Latent Class Analysis Of Drug Use Among People Who Use Drugs In Vancouver Canada

1:15 PM - 1:30 PM

Abstract

Speaker Presentation

Biography

With a background in research and diagnostic laboratories in the blood borne virus field, Brendan undertakes research identifying transmission dynamics of hepatitis C virus (HCV) amongst HIV-positive and HIV-negative patients and characterizing viral and host mutations that infer resistance/susceptibility to treatment. Brendan has expanded on his laboratory research skills to include novel analytical methods to better understand the epidemiology of infectious diseases and substance misuse.

Detachable Low Dead-Space Syringes For The Prevention Of Hepatitis C Among People Who Inject Drugs: An Economic Evaluation

1:50 PM - 1:55 PM

Abstract

Biography

Peter Vickerman is a Professor in infectious disease modelling at the University of Bristol. He has 20-years experience in infectious disease modelling. His research focuses on using mathematical modelling to help understand the transmission of different infectious diseases and impact and cost-effectiveness of prevention measures. Specific expertise focuses on the transmission of HIV, HCV and other STIs amongst different high risk groups including injecting drug users. He has extensive experience of conducting collaborative research with organisations in varied settings.
