Shaleesa is a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. She previously completed her Master of Public Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her research focuses on understanding how various pathways of care impact health outcomes among people experiencing opioid-related harms.

Dr. Mitra is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre on Drug Policy Evaluation. Her primary research interest includes the socioeconomic determinants of health and wellbeing in communities facing longstanding marginalization. She holds a MPH from the University of Toronto and a PhD from the University of British Columbia.

Matthew is an International Board member with International Network of Health and Hepatitis in Substance Users, and a drug culture advisor with ChangeMark Research and Evaluation. He was previously the program manager with the Canadian Association of People Who Use Drugs. His freelance writing has appeared in publications including The Conversation, CATIE, Doctors Nova Scotia, Policy Options and The Coast. Matthew was also on the 64th Canadian delegation to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs. He is a current drug user and a formerly incarcerated person.
