Biography

Mohammed Majam is the Director for Medical Technologies at Ezintsha, at Wits University in Johannesburg. He has been a leading role player in driving the agenda for self-testing forward both in South Africa and globally. He serves on various technical working groups for WHO, and the NDOH in SA. Mohammed lead the STAR programme in SA which oversaw the implementation programme for HIV self-screening in the country. Currently his work is focussing on Hep C and STI Self-testing.

He applies implementation science to integrate research into practice, enhancing healthcare outcomes, particularly in infectious disease care and for equity-deserving groups. He his the Co-Lead of the Implementation Science Research Stream of the Canadian Network on Hepatitis C.

He researches telemedicine-based HIV prevention and HCV treatment in rural PWUD. He practices general internal medicine and HIV medicine at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.
