This panel discussion will explore the unmet sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme workers. The session will raise awareness on the barriers to SRH care and education for PALM workers and identity strategies to strengthen access.

Biography

Lindy Kanan is a social researcher with a focus on gender, migration and development in the Asia-Pacific region. Her recent projects have investigated the intersections of sexual and reproductive health and rights, and women’s safety in the context of temporary migration to Australia from Timor-Leste and the Pacific region. Lindy is a PhD candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast and works part-time with the University of Sydney on a study funded by NSW Health which aims to better understand the sexual and reproductive health needs of Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme workers.
