James Brown is a proud Bunurong and Gunditjmara man dedicated to preserving and sharing his Culture. He works in Heritage management and supports Cultural Ceremonies for the Bunurong Land Council. James is passionate about caring for Country, protecting Cultural values, and strengthening connections between Community, Culture and future generations.

Dr Jillian Lau is an Infectious Diseases physician based in Melbourne, Victoria. She works clinically at Alfred Health and Monash Health and is a postdoctoral research fellow at The Doherty Institute. Her research focuses on HIV cure therapeutic interventions, and the practice of interrupting antiretroviral therapy in HIV cure trials (known as analytical treatment interruptions).

Prof Dr. Jason Ong is an academic sexual health specialist and health economist. He is Director of Melbourne Sexual Health Centre and the Inaugural Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Sexual Health. His research focuses on economic evaluations and demand creation strategies to improve the uptake of HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and management services.

Professor James McMahon is Head of the Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Unit at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne and an ID physician at the Alfred, and Monash Medical Centre. He is the current President of ASHM and His research interests include clinical trials for HIV Cure and antiretroviral therapy.

Professor Michael Kidd AO is Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, based in the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. He is a general practitioner and a primary care and public health researcher, and has served as president of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and president of the World Organization of Family Doctors. He is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and has held past research appointments at Monash University, the University of Sydney, Flinders University, the Australian National University, and the University of Toronto. He holds a current joint academic appointment as the Foundation Director of the International Centre for Future Health Systems at the University of New South Wales, and as Professor of Global Primary Care with the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.

Mark is President of Health Equity Matters. During the day, he is the Chief Executive of a large mental health organisation in the not-for-profit sector. He is a Board Director of the NSW community mental health peak organisation, the Mental Health Co-ordinating Council, and the national mental health peak, Mental Health Australia. He is also the immediate past President of ACON, Health Equity Matters’ NSW member.

Scott is currently serving as Board Director and President of the National Association of People with HIV Australia (NAPWHA.org.au) and Director of Health Equity Matters. Former journalist. Former Brand Manager. Skilled in policy, strategy, public relations, media, marketing and finance. Committed to accountable governance, policy that works, intelligent advocacy, corporate-social responsibility and community.

Dr Jason Leo Iane Mitchell is a Fijian public health leader working at the intersection of HIV, sexual health, and health systems transformation in the Pacific. With over two decades of experience, his work spans policy development, programme design, and institutional strengthening across national and regional responses. He currently leads Fiji’s HIV epidemic response, bringing together government, communities, and partners to deliver evidence-informed, culturally grounded solutions. Jason’s work is driven by a commitment to equity, dignity, and rethinking sexual health beyond disease control, with a focus on building responsive systems that reflect the realities of Pacific peoples.

Rachel Rutishauser, MD, PhD is an Infectious Disease physician-scientist and Associate Professor in the Division of Experimental Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. The Rutishauser laboratory studies immunologic mechanisms of HIV control.

Alexis is the current ASHM CEO and has been since 2018. Alexis started working in the HIV sector in 2000 in South Africa before moving to Australia in 2008. He has remained passionate about public health and the role social enterprise plays in enabling equity, choice and access of healthcare, free of stigma and discrimination, as basic human rights.
