Justine is an epidemiologist and senior research officer in the Global Health Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW. Justine works on a program of research related to sexual, reproductive and maternal health in the Pacific, including conducting STI prevalence surveys in antenatal care (ANC) and community settings in Fiji, mapping the cascade of care for HIV and syphilis in ANC in Fiji, strengthening HIV and STI surveillance systems, and work on a clinical trial in Fiji investigating the impact of community treatment strategies for STIs on adverse perinatal outcomes.

His work has focused mainly on the epidemiology of sexually tranmissible infections and blood-borne viruses, in addition to alcohol and drug use and associated harms. He is passionate about undertaking translational research to inform evidence-based policy and practice.

Hein is a PhD student at the university of Melbourne and Burnet Institute, conducting a research project focusing on oropharyngeal gonorrhoea and antimicrobial resistance among heterosexual population. He completed a medical degree in Myanmar and has worked in non-governmental organisations for 4 years, providing sexual and reproductive healthcare services.
