This session will cover abortion guidelines, care delivery, cultural considerations, equity and stigma, with speakers from a range of backgrounds and a particular focus on early medical abortion. You will: Gain understanding of RANZCOG clinical guidelines and how to implement guidelines in a range of settings, Gain confidence in delivering EMA without USS, Develop skills in culturally safe abortion care and Understand abortion stigma & ways to combat stigma

Dr Catriona Melville is a gynaecologist and subspecialist in sexual and reproductive health. She is the Clinical Lead for Reproductive Health at Logan Hospital, and Director of Redlands Gynaecology in Brisbane. Catriona is an Associate Editor for The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ANZJOG) and Deputy Chair of RANZCOG’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Committee. She also serves on the Boards of the Women’s Health Education Network (WHEN) and FIAPAC and is an international council member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH).

Dr Brougham has been a GP in Rural Victoria for 30years.
He has a strong interest in Women’s Health and was a GP Obstetrician for 28years & now his focus is on Sexual & Reproductive Health & Abortion care, providing Medical Terminations of Pregnancy for several years.
He was a joint owner of a successful private practice before leaving to take up a role as a Clinical Supervisor of International Medical Graduates & Medical Students from Monash University at Latrobe Community Health Service in Morwell.
He has been involved with teaching Year 4C Medical Students at Monash School of Rural Health Gippsland for the past 15years and has been Discipline Lead of General Practice for the last 3years. He is very keen on teaching core practical skills & a common sense approach to medicine.
He is an Accredited Educational Supervisor in General Practice for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners
He was actively involved with the Australian Primary Care Collaboratives (Improvement Foundation) since its inception in 2005 and has presented at numerous National Conferences/ Workshops about the philosophy of initiating and sustaining improvements in Chronic Disease Management for patients - primarily through implementing & sustaining recall systems & using medical software to drive changes in care

Shelly Makleff (she/her) is a McKenzie Research Fellow at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health (University of Melbourne). Her research seeks to reduce abortion stigma in the health system, improve person-centred care, and promote equitable access to sexual and reproductive health services globally.
