Dr Thomas O'Neil
Postdoctoral Researcher
Westmead Institute For Medical Research
Novel spatial technologies to study the early dynamics of HIV infection in a physiologically relevant human explant model
1:30 PM - 1:55 PMBiography
Thomas is currently a postdoc with the HIV & Mucosal Immunity lab at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. His primay research focus is investigating human tissue immunology with high parameter bioinformatic approaches. He's been developing methods to define the immune landscape in human anogenital tissue using spatial technologies (IMC, CosMx & Visium) and defining the landscape of different tissue compartments as early sanctuaries for pathogens during viral transmission.
Dr Gabriel Duette
Research Fellow
The Westmead Institute for Medical Research
Control of HIV infection during consecutive analytical treatment interruptions
1:55 PM - 2:15 PMBiography
Gabriel Duette is a Research Fellow and co-leader of the HIV Reservoir Group at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. With over 15 years of experience in HIV pathogenesis, his research focuses on HIV persistence, therapy, and TB coinfection. He received the amfAR Mathilde Krim Fellowship in 2024.
