Dr. Francesco Simonetti is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University. His translational research combines clinical insight, molecular virology, and immunology to investigate HIV persistence. A recipient of the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award, he aims to improve outcomes for people living with HIV through novel diagnostics and cure strategies

Biography

Dr. Sushama Telwatte is a molecular virologist, based at the Doherty Institute in Melbourne, whose research focuses on HIV latency and tissue reservoirs. She develops single-cell transcriptomic approaches to study infected cells from people living with HIV, with a strong interest in applying innovative technologies to uncover viral persistence mechanisms.

Dr. Morgane Brunton-O'Sullivan is a Research Officer in the Infection, Inflammation and Innate Immunity group at Burnet Institute. Morgane’s research primarily focuses on developing strategies to kill HIV-infected macrophages by harnessing the innate immune system or by sensitizing cells using pharmaceutical agents.
