Dr Timothy Broady is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW. His research focuses on prevention, testing, and treatment of bloodborne viruses and sexually transmissible infections, with a particular focus on addressing stigma and discrimination among affected communities.

Quantifying the effect of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis on HIV-1 transmission in New South Wales using molecular epidemiology
Biography
I am an expert in phylogenetics and phylodynamics. My research focuses on the theory and application of phylodynamic models for epidemiological inference in a range of viral and bacterial pathogens. At the Kirby Institute, I work with the H2Seq working group to develop routine reporting for HIV and HCV.

Sue is the Leader of the AIDS Epidemiology Group, based in the University of Otago in Dunedin. The Group carries out surveillance of HIV and AIDS in New Zealand. Sue will be presenting research conducted in the aged care sector, around knowledge and attitudes with HIV.

Biography
Mr Rongxing Weng is a PhD student at the Kirby Institute. His research project is to understand the HIV epidemic in Australia across space and time. His interests include prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STI), mathematical modelling, STI screening, and sexual behaviour.

Biography
Dr Dean Murphy is Senior Research Fellow at ARCSHS, La Trobe University, where he leads the research theme on blood-borne viruses and other stigmatised conditions. He currently leads a new ARC Discovery Project which is undertaking the first analysis of public policy related to HIV ‘elimination’ in Australian settings.
