Dr Dashika Anshu Balak is a Principal Medical Officer in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV Unit at Fiji’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services. She leads the Treatment, Care and Support Committee under the National HIV Outbreak and Cluster Response Taskforce, advancing integrated, evidence-based, people-centred HIV, BBV, STI and SRH services across Fiji.

I am a Senior specialist Public Health specialist working in the field of Sexual Health and HIV Medicine with particular focus on improving HIV Prevention and Treatment intervention programs in communities. As a proud graduate of the PNG School of Medicine I have worked extensively over the years to strengthen and expand HIV care and treatment service access. I also support community activities that address stigma and developing interventions that are targeted towards improving health outcomes.

Dr Jason Leo Iane Mitchell is a Fijian public health leader working at the intersection of HIV, sexual health, and health systems transformation in the Pacific. With over two decades of experience, his work spans policy development, programme design, and institutional strengthening across national and regional responses. He currently leads Fiji’s HIV epidemic response, bringing together government, communities, and partners to deliver evidence-informed, culturally grounded solutions. Jason’s work is driven by a commitment to equity, dignity, and rethinking sexual health beyond disease control, with a focus on building responsive systems that reflect the realities of Pacific peoples.

Joeli Colati is a passionate HIV advocate, community leader, and Executive Director of Fiji Network Plus. As a person openly living with HIV who is undetectable, he uses his lived experience to inspire hope, challenge stigma, and advocate for the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of people living with HIV and key populations. With over a decade and a half of experience working with Fiji Network Plus, the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services, and as an SSA with the World Health Organization (WHO Fiji), based within the Family Health Unit, Joeli has dedicated his career to strengthening HIV programmes and championing community-led responses. His unwavering commitment is driven by one simple belief: NO ONE SHOULD FACE HIV ALONE. He continues to be a strong voice for those whose stories are often unheard, working to build a future where everyone can live with dignity, equality, and hope.

She is a dental therapist with over 15 years of public health experience in government, the private sector, academia, and international organizations. She is a holder of a Master of Health Policy from the University of Sydney.

Dr Michelle O’Connor is the Director of ASHM’s Global Division. Michelle holds a PhD in adolescent sexual and reproductive well-being from the University of New South Wales, A Masters Degree in International Public Health from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor with Honours in Psychology from Warwick University (UK). Michelle has close to 20 years of experience working in international development and health for a variety of organisations including not-for-profits, government, the United Nations and academic institutions. Her strengths and experience lie in executive management and strategy, program management, research and strategic information and technical expertise in sexual and reproductive health and BBVs. Michelle has lived and worked in the UK, Solomon Islands and Fiji.
