He is a Senior Research Fellow and Group Leader at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, focusing on HIV prevention among men who have sex with men and trans women in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

Sue is the Leader of the AIDS Epidemiology Group (AEG) based at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. The Group undertakes the surveillance of HIV and AIDS under contract with the NZ Ministry of Health. She is also a co-investigator on the Sex and Prevention of Transmission Study (SPOTS).
