Recent years have seen an increase in attacks on sexual and reproductive health and rights in countries around the world, including the rights and bodily autonomy of women and LGBTQIA+ people. In these politically challenging environments, what does it mean to advocate for and deliver comprehensive sexuality education? What strategies can we use to advocate for these essential programs and interventions?
Learning Objectives
1. Increased awareness and knowledge of attacks comprehensive sexuality education, including access to relevant clinical services for sexual and reproductive health.
2. Increased awareness and knowledge on clinical, educational, and community responses to attacks on comprehensive sexuality education and access to clinically and culturally competent care.
3. Increased understanding on the importance of clinician and research allyship and support for comprehensive sexuality education and access to sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Jackie Turner (she/her) has more than 10 years experience as an organiser and campaigner. She is passionate about community power, developing the leadership of trans and gender diverse people, and building movements that can win. Her work on movement building, messaging, and combating anti-trans disinformation has been instrumental in pushing back against the attacks of the anti-trans lobby in Australia.

Jessy Dame is a very proud Two-Spirit, Métis, Certified Registered Nurse. Jessy’s family is from Treaty 1 and 2 territory, which is known today as Winnipeg and St Rose-du-lac. Jessy has worked within Neonatal/Postnatal health. He currently works casually within a queer sexual health clinic in downtown Vancouver. Jessy is Director of Two-Spirit Health with the Community Based Research Centre.
