Speaker
Professor Jason Ong
Sexual Health Physician
Monash University
Vaccine value profile for Neisseria gonorrhoeae
10:30 AM - 10:38 AMBiography
Jason is an academic sexual health specialist and health economist based at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre. His research focuses on economic evaluations and strategies to improve access to sexual health services. He is advisor to WHO working towards the elimination of HIV/STIs as a public health threat.
Professor Sanjay Ram
Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology
UMass Chan Medical School
Immune response to gonorrhoea in men and women
10:40 AM - 10:57 AMBiography
Sanjay Ram’s research focuses on immune evasion mechanisms of the pathogenic Neisseriae. This knowledge is now being leveraged to design vaccines and novel immunotherapeutics against multidrug-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae. He also serves on the Infectious Diseases consult service at UMass Chan.
Prof Kate Seib
Research Leader & Deputy Director
Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University
Meningococcal vaccines against gonorrhoea
11:00 AM - 11:17 AMBiography
Professor Kate Seib's research includes the discovery and characterisation of gonococcal vaccine candidates, and mathematical modelling of the potential impact of gonococcal vaccines. She was involved in the development of the 4CMenB meningococcal vaccine and is currently leading two clinical trials to evaluate the ability of 4CMenB to prevent gonorrhoea.
Isabel Delany
Head of Molecular Biology and Bacteriology
GSK
Gonococcal outer membrane vesicle (OMV) and non-OMV vaccines
11:20 AM - 11:45 AMBiography
Isabel Delany is a molecular microbiologist with over 25 years of experience in bacterial vaccine research and is currently Head of Molecular Biology and Bacteriology, in GSK, Siena, Italy. Her major contributions have been in the identification and characterization of bacterial antigens, and in the development of technology platforms for engineering vaccine components.
