Michael Marks is Professor of Medicine at LSHTM and an Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, University College London Hospital. His major area of interest has been the epidemiology and control of Treponema pallidum including using next-generation sequencing approaches, evaluating Linezolid as a new oral therapy for syphilis investigating integrating near-patient diagnostics for STIs into antenatal care in Zimbabwe.

Belinda Hengel is an infectious diseases researcher based with the Kirby Institute, UNSW. Her focus is on reducing the impact of infectious diseases, including sexually transmissible infections and respiratory infections in populations at risk. Belinda has experience in public health interventions, including molecular point-of-care testing and optimizing health service delivery.

Phoebe is a general paediatrician & infectious diseases physician with appointments at Sydney Children’s Hospital, the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, and as an NHMRC Fellow at The University of Sydney. Her research is focused on neonatal infections in resource-constrained healthcare settings, with a focus on Southeast Asia.

Dr Michelle O’Connor is the Director of ASHM’s Global Division. Michelle holds a PhD in adolescent sexual and reproductive well-being from the University of New South Wales, A Masters Degree in International Public Health from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor with Honours in Psychology from Warwick University (UK). Michelle has close to 20 years of experience working in international development and health for a variety of organisations including not-for-profits, government, the United Nations and academic institutions. Her strengths and experience lie in executive management and strategy, program management, research and strategic information and technical expertise in sexual and reproductive health and BBVs. Michelle has lived and worked in the UK, Solomon Islands and Fiji.
