Dr Hearps is Co-Director of the Disease Elimination Program and Head of the Infection, Inflammation and Innate Immunity laboratory the Burnet Institute. Her research focuses on the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of HIV, with a particular focus on innate immune cells, and implications for chronic diseases including cardiovascular disease.

Rose is a PhD student at the UNSW, Kirby Institute. She holds a BPharm degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Masters in Epidemiology from the Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya. Her PhD project looks into multiplexing RNAi therapeutics for lentiviral delivery

John Zaunders is a Senior Scientist at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, whose expertise is in the immunology of HIV and other infectious diseases, based on flow cytometry and immunological techniques. He has contributed to knowledge of human CD4 T cell subsets, including Tregs, CCR5+ cells, and viral antigen-specific cells.

Shannen is a seasoned research assistant at the NSW State Reference Laboratory for HIV, bringing over seven years of expertise in research and development. Highly experienced in molecular diagnostic assay development and validation, she has a particular interest in Point of Care diagnostics. In her current role, Shannen primarily works with dried blood spots, testing for HIV and HCV in at-risk populations, and performing HIV drug resistance profiling. She is dedicated to advancing diagnostic technologies and improving health outcomes through innovative research and application.
