Abstract

Biography

Associate Professor Anderson is Deputy Director of The Burnet Institute and head of the Point of Care Diagnostics Laboratory. His work has focused on understanding the structure and assembly of hepatitis viruses, and the use of this information to design better diagnostics, vaccines and therapies.

Sofia Bartlett is a PhD candidate in the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW. For her thesis, she is using molecular and epidemiological techniques to understand transmission of hepatitis C virus in Australia.

Prof. O'Beirne trained in Hepatology at the Royal Free and King's College Hospitals. London UK. He was appointed as Consultant Hepatologist and Transplant Physician at the Royal Free in 2007 until he joined the Hepatology service at the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital in 2017.

Biography

Jacinta O’Keefe is from the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at VIDRL. She completed a Master of Biotechnology at RMIT in 2014 examining hepatitis A & E virus genotypes and is now working on a NHMRC-funded project investigating the prevalence of HCV resistance associated variants in patients treated with the new DAAs.
