Biography

Jake Rance is a Fellow Research with the Centre for Social Research in Health, UNSW Sydney. Jake has a long history of working with people who inject drugs and has collaborated on a number of innovative research projects, including most recently the Feasibility of Opioid Injectable Treatment (FOpIT ) study.

Biography

Craig Rodgers is currently a Senior Staff Specialist in Addiction Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. He has worked as a General Practitioner and Addiction Specialist in the inner suburbs of Sydney since 2000 with roles at Kirketon Road Centre, East Sydney Doctors and the Sydney Medically Supervised Injecting Centre.

Biography

Bianca Whiteside is a PhD candidate at Deakin University and Burnet Institue; a recipient of a Deakin Burnet DUPR-Round scholarship. Bianca’s project explores public amenity and drug consumption rooms. Bianca is also currently employed at the Burnet Institute as a research assistant where she has been working on multiple projects focusing on injecting drug use. Her passion for research centres on policy design, implementation, and evaluation focusing on strengthening the health independence and well-being of people who use drugs and the communities around them.

Biography

Theresa completed her PhD in 2024, and works at the Centre for Social Research in Health. Her research has focused on experiences of stigma in health settings, particularly affecting people with histories of drug use. She has worked with populations experiencing disadvantage in social work, education, and program roles.

Loren Brener is a Professor at the Centre for Social Research in Health. Her research is grounded in social psychology, focuses on the impact of stigma and discrimination on health outcomes and quality of care, and aims to advance theoretical understandings and practical outcomes for marginalised and vulnerable groups.

Biography

Liz is a research officer at DPMP, UNSW, interested in all things drugs policy including participation, harm reduction, markets and regulation. Liz is passionate about the human rights of people who use drugs and currently facilitates a national working group in Australia that advocates for greater harm reduction in prisons.

Dr Paul Kelaita is a postdoctoral fellow in the Drug Policy Modelling Program at the Social Policy Research Centre, UNSW. He works on values in drug policy, focusing on policymaker and alcohol and other drug sector approaches to debate and reform.

Paige is also a Research and Policy Officer at Students for Sensible Drug Policy. She is passionate about reducing the stigma experienced by people who use drugs and their families.
