Caitlin is an Associate Professor in criminology and drug policy and Matthew Flinders Fellow at Flinders Criminology and the Centre for Social Impact, Flinders University. Her research seeks to advance Australian and international drug policy by improving the evidence-base into the effects of different legislative and law enforcement approaches.

Biography

Dr Peart (she/her) is a Senior Research Fellow in Addiction Studies at Turning Point, and Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University. Dr Peart specialises in qualitative research to understand the experiences of people who use alcohol and other drugs, particularly in relation to access to care.

Gene commenced his PhD in Criminology in 2023, which is focused on evalauting the health, crime and system impacts of the South Australian Police Drug Diversion Initiative. Gene enjoys undertaking applied research where the outcomes have real-world relevance and the findings have the potential to influence policy and practice.

Ayumi Takano: A researcher at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, Japan. My work focuses on harm reduction, drug and alcohol use, gaming or gambling behavior, and digital mental health. I collaborate internationally to develop evidence-based interventions and policy recommendations.

Biography

Professor Adrian Dunlop has over 30 years’ experience as a drug & alcohol clinician/researcher. He is the Director and Addiction Medicine Senior Staff Specialist with Hunter New England Local Health District, and a DASAS consultant (2007-current). He is a Conjoint Professor with the School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle and a member of the Hunter Medical Research Institute. He is a member and past chair of the NSW Drug & Alcohol Clinical Research & Improvement Network. He was the Chief Addiction Medicine Specialist (2014 – 2018) for NSW Ministry of Health, is a Past-President of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, RACP, and Past President of APSAD. He was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2005 and is a James Rankin Orator in 2012.

Daniel is a Research Associate and part-time PhD candidate at the University of Sydney, primarily based in Drug and Alcohol Services at Northern Sydney Local Health District. Having worked in AOD for the past 8 years, Dan has been involved in numerous research projects, including clinical trials, and leading statewide research studies with people who use drugs.
