Biography

Erica has over a decade of professional experience in harm reduction, drug checking, public health promotion, and research, and is a person with lived-living experience of drug use. She is nationally recognized for her leadership in large-scale co-designed drug harm reduction initiatives targeting young people and festival attendees.

Dr Brin Ryder trained in mucosal immunology and health research, and has professional and lived experience developing drug checking and harm reduction services in Aotearoa, providing nonjudgmental, abstinence-free risk reduction advice. They are currently a Teaching Fellow at Te Pokapū Aurorotanga/Centre for Early Learning in Medicine.

His interests include the interface between addiction and physical health, and management of sequalae including liver disease, invasive infections, chronic pain, and blood borne viruses. He is passionate about delivery of care to marginalised communities.

Jack Freestone is a post-doctoral research fellow at the National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED). His research at NCCRED focuses on NCCRED’s Prompt Response Network and Australian approaches to monitoring and responding to emerging drugs of concern.
