Russell Deighton is a senior lecturer at the Cairnmillar Institute and clinical psychologist in private practice in Melbourne, specialising in trauma, loss and grief and addiction. He has also worked as an academic and clinician in Germany. His research interests include addiction and emotional processes in clinical disorders.

Nick is a clinical psychologist with experience working across a range of settings in mental health and AOD clinical work. His doctoral thesis research focused on the assessment and treatment of trauma, work which has continued with the UQ LLW Research Group and Lives Lived Well, contributing to implementation projects.

Dr Louisa Picco is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow. Her research predominantly focuses on identifying and responding to prescription opioid-related risks and harms, particularly via prescription drug monitoring programs and clinical screening tools. Dr Picco’s research also explores the impact of opioid policies on population outcomes.

Jessica Epifanio Ferreira, an Accredited Social Worker with 5 years experience in the Community Sector, who currently works in the AOD field at Odyssey House NSW, Community Programs. Her role involves providing individual counselling and facilitating group sessions for people with alcohol and other drug issues.

Kate is an Addiction Medicine Specialist and the current APSAD SA Rep. Her interests include Aboriginal health, viral hepatitis in substance users, alcoholic liver disease, opioid dependence treatment, and comorbid pain and opioid dependence.

Kurt Lancaster is a Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar in the Assertive Community Management team, St Vincent’s Hospital Alcohol and Drug Service. He has clinical and research experience in aged care, HIV, clinical trials, and vascular health. He has worked in the alcohol and other drug sector for 18 months.

Sarah is a Senior Occupational Therapist in the Assertive Community Management team, St Vincent’s Hospital Alcohol and Drug Service. Sarah began her career in mental health working across both community and inpatient settings. She has since worked in the alcohol and other drug sector for the last 6 years.

Sascha is a psychologist with work experience in different clinical and ambulant settings. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Curtin University and an Honorary Research Associate at Murdoch University. Sascha’s research interests revolve around substance-use disorders, trauma-related disorders, substance-assisted psychotherapy, physical activity, and behaviour change.

Greg has extensive experience in casework and training. He has facilitated narrative counselling with Aboriginal-controlled services for the last 20 years, with a focus on AOD services. Qualifications include a Masters in Narrative Therapy and Community Work, Social Work and PhD with the University of Melbourne, focusing on relationally-informed practice.

Smruti is a Community Educator at Hepatitis ACT. Smruti has completed a Master of Public Health from Monash University, and her current role involves facilitating awareness sessions in different community sectors including AOD services, correctional facilities, and youth services.
