Biography

Erin is a Project Officer and PhD candidate at the Matilda Centre and an investigator on the latest Australian Government of Department of Health and Aged Care funded expansion of the Comorbidity Project. Her PhD focuses on developing an implementation toolkit based on the Guidelines on co-occurring conditions.

Emily Lenton is a research officer at the the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University. Emily has worked extensively in research and workforce development in the BBV and AOD sectors.

Katrin is a clinical-academic with clinical and leadership experience within the AOD sector. Katrin has a unique blend of clinical social work AOD and mental health expertise, clinical leadership within community settings, health education design and delivery, and qualitative research skills.

Biography

Dr Tayla Degan is a Lecturer on the post-graduate psychology programs at the University of Wollongong and an adjunct with the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC), University of New South Wales. She is also a registered Clinical Psychologist working in private practice. Tayla is involved with substance use and mental health research including the Tina Trial, a Phase III randomised placebo-controlled trial examining mirtazapine for methamphetamine use disorder. Her research has also explored the health literacy of people accessing mental health and substance use disorder treatment services, the implementation of continuing care, and the evaluation of substance use disorder treatment.

Jess Daniels is a passionate Health Promotion professional who has been working within AOD for much of her career. Jess collaborates with a variety of stakeholders/agencies and communities in her work in AOD which has culminated in the development of Community Wellbeing Plans.

Associate Professor Christina Marel is Program Lead of Treatment and Translation in Complex Populations at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on improving our understanding of, and responses to, mental and substance use disorders in complex populations; and developing evidence-based resources to support the translation of research into clinical practice.

A practicing psychologist Paula has over 25 years of experience working in the drug and alcohol sector in hospital, community and private settings in clinical practice, research, teaching, training and practice supervision roles.

River is a dedicated counsellor at KRC for six years, currently focused on alcohol and other drug counselling. Their background includes work with youth, homelessness, and disability. As a non-binary individual with ties to the LGBTQIA+ community, River is passionate about promoting mental health and resilience among marginalized populations through inclusive care.
