Benjamin Bavinton has worked in HIV prevention and research for over 15 years in Australia and internationally. He is a research fellow at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, focusing on the biomedical, behavioural and epidemiological aspects of HIV prevention among gay and bisexual men in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Associate Professor Edwina Wright is an infectious disease physician at the Alfred Hospital, Monash Central Clinical School. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Peter Doherty Institute and Honorary Principal Fellow at the Burnet Institute. Her research interests include HIV prevention, HIV cure and HIV dementia. Dr Wright was awarded an Order of Australia for her work in HIV Medicine and Research in 2021.

Darren is the Director of Sexual Health at Cairns Sexual Health Service and is an Adjunct Professor at James Cook University and Clinical Associate Professor and Melbourne University. He has interests in broad sexual health, Indigenous sexual health, and in the elimination of viral hepatitis and HIV infections. He has worked with sex workers for over 30 years.

Michael Whelan (he/him) works as a Health Educator at Thorne Harbour Health supporting HIV/BBV/STI prevention primarily amongst heterosexually-identified MSM and overseas-born MSM. Michael is also Chairperson of community organisation PAN [PrEPaccessNOW] supporting equal and affordable access to PrEP – primarily for people born outside of Australia.

Valérie is a public health physician and currently Director of the Communicable Diseases Branch at NSW Health. She was Head of HIV at Public Health England (UKHSA) from 2005-2021. In close collaboration with researchers, clinicians and civil society, for the past 2 decades, Valerie’s work has focussed on understanding the impact of HIV, other BBVs and STIs and driving policy change to reduce these in diverse communities.
