Biography

Sharon Lewin is the inaugural director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital. She is an infectious diseases physician and basic scientist. Her research focuses on understanding why HIV persists on treatment and developing clinical trials aimed at ultimately finding a cure for HIV infection.

Biography

Dr. Ahlenstiel is a Senior Research Fellow at the Kirby Institute, UNSW, where she leads the RNAi Silencing Group. Her research group develops gene therapies using RNA molecules to silence virus infections, including HIV-1, Coronaviruses, HPV and HTLV-1. Her group also investigates both viral and non-viral gene therapy delivery platforms.

Biography

Dr Jillian Lau is an Infectious Diseases physician based in Melbourne, Victoria. She works clinically at Alfred Health and Monash Health and is a postdoctoral research fellow at The Doherty Institute. Her research focuses on HIV cure therapeutic interventions, and the practice of interrupting antiretroviral therapy in HIV cure trials (known as analytical treatment interruptions).

Biography

Brent is the Senior Project Officer at NAPWHA where he overseeing activities related HIV treatment, health and quality of life. Brent has worked in roles across the HIV sector, across a programs, initiaves and research partnerships focused on people living with HIV, particularly recently diagnosed and people who inject drugs.
