Learning Objectives for session (expected outcomes): Increased understanding of barriers to, and opportunities for, increasing HIV testing among migrant and CALD communities Create a dialogue with primary care professionals working outside the HIV sector (who may be specialists in working with CALD and migrant communities or Indigenous communities) about strategies to better engage a diverse range of people in HIV testing, treatment and prevention.

Biography

Dr Chris Lemoh is an Infectious Diseases and General Physician who specialises in the health of people from refugee and migrant communities. His PhD thesis was on HIV in African communities in Victoria.

Biography

Professor Cindy Shannon is a descendant of the Ngugi people from Moreton Bay region in Queensland. She is Professor of Indigenous health at QUT. Cindy is the chair of the Queensland Ministerial Advisory Committee on Sexual Health and has played a key role in policy advice and implementation for the sector, at the national, state and community levels for the past 20 years.

Biography

Chris Howard is living with HIV for 32 years, worked in Queensland’s HIV sector for 22 years and is Programs Manager with Queensland Positive People’s Life+ program. Chris successfully implemented Australia’s first HIV Peer Navigation program to support those newly diagnosed or at risk of disengaging or falling out of care.

Biography

Dr.Sid Kaladharan is the current Vice-President of QLD-branch of Public Health Association of Australia; a health-faculty at the University of Queensland,undertaking his research in improving access to treatment and services for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse(CALD) communities in Queensland. He is an Indigenous Genomics researcher at Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
