Anal Cancer Screening - What are we Waiting For?

A/Prof Richard Hillman is a clinical researcher and sexual health physician with substantial expertise and experience in the delivery and evaluation of anal dysplasia screening and management programs. He was the lead Australian investigator in the male prophylactic HPV vaccination studies. He is currently Chief Clinical Investigator for SPANC, a number of AIN treatment trials and Australia’s first pilot anal cancer screening program. He runs the only Dysplasia and Anal Cancer Services (DACS) in NSW.

A/Prof Brotherton is a public health physician and epidemiologist with substantial expertise and experience in the delivery and evaluation of cervical screening and HPV vaccination programs. She was a lead investigator in Australian research demonstrating the world’s first evidence of declines in pre-cancerous cervical lesions post- vaccination.

Dr Lucette Cysique is the NeuroHIV research group leader at Neuroscience Research Australia and UNSW Medicine. She conducts cross-disciplinary research into the neurocognitive changes associated with HIV, aging, HIV and cardio-vascular diseases, as well as their underpinnings in brain structural and metabolic changes using MRI/MRS/DTI and PET.

Ruth Hennessy is the Head of Psychology and Senior Clinical Psychologist at The Albion Centre. She has extensive experience in HIV psychological counselling and in training health care workers. She and the psychology team were recently part of the writing group for The Australian Standards for psychological support for adults with HIV.
