The key to the virtual elimination of new HIV infections in Australia is to focus on reducing transmissions in NSW.
The Seventh National HIV Strategy 2014–2017 sets a goal to work towards achieving the virtual elimination of HIV transmission in Australia by 2020. With two years to go, this debate will consider what is left to do to get to the finish line. Does it make sense us to focus resources primarily on reducing transmission in Australia’s most populous state, or should efforts be divided more evenly around the country?
