Biography

Professor Chloe Orkin is the current Chair of the British HIV Association (2016-2019). She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1995 and completed her specialist training at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital. She was appointed Consultant HIV Physician at the Royal London Hospital in 2003 where she leads the busy HIV and HIV/ HCV clinical trials unit. Her clinical interests are: Anti-retroviral therapy and hepatitis co-infection. In 2015 she ran the first UK-based blood-borne virus testing week 'Going Viral' and is researching ways of implementing blood-borne virus testing. She has co-authored four British HIV Association guidelines on: Anti-retroviral therapy, Hepatitis, Malignancy and Routine Monitoring.

Biography

Dr. Gulick is Rochelle Belfer Professor in Medicine and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Dr. Gulick’s research interests include designing, conducting and analyzing clinical trials to refine antiretroviral therapy strategies for HIV treatment and prevention and assess antiretroviral agents with new mechanisms of action. He currently serves as Principal Investigator of the Cornell-New Jersey HIV Clinical Trials Unit of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN), sponsored by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. He also serves as the Co-Chair of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Panel on Clinical Practices for Treatment of HIV Infection, a Member of the NIH Office of AIDS Research Advisory Committee (OARAC), a Board Member of the International Antiviral Society-USA. He has presented at national and international meetings and published widely.

Biography

Laura Waters is a GU/HIV consultant and HIV & hepatitis lead at CNWL’s Mortimer Market Centre, London. She works predominantly in HIV and viral hepatitis outpatients. Laura previously worked in clinical trials at Chelsea & Westminster and Brighton, gaining an MD on ART switch and is currently principle or chief investigator on several antiretroviral trials. She is chair of the BHIVA treatment guidelines, chair of the BHIVA conferences sub-committee and on the BHIVA executive committee. She is the previous treasurer and chair of the BASHH HIV SIG, a member of the 2015 PEP guidelines writing group and is chairing the forthcoming update of the BHIVA/BASHH/FSRH SRH guidelines for PLWH. She is on the HIV CRG including the Drugs subgroup and was on the CRG PrEP subcommittee. She has published and presented widely, is a regular columnist for Boyz magazine, is a THT trustee and chair of the HalveIt campaign.
